Planning Your Restylane Treatment

Restylane is a hyaluronic acid-based filler that's especially adept at filling in lines, creases, and hollows throughout the face. Approved by the FDA in 2003, Restylane uses a non-animal version of hyaluronic acid that's tolerated very well among almost all patients. Restylane can also be used to add volume and shape to lips. The most common indications for Restylane include:

  • Nasolabial folds (also called "smile lines")
  • Marionette lines that run between the mouth and chin
  • Lip lines
  • Tear troughs (hollow areas beneath the eyes)

Restylane is particularly effective for filling in under-eye hollows for a more youthful look. It is the only filler our experienced team uses for this area of the face. When filling in tear troughs, it's important to choose a provider with training in facial plastic surgery because of the delicate anatomy beneath the eyes. Our patients trust in our practitioners' training and experience with Restylane injections.

During your consultation, we will discuss your areas of primary concern, as well as your desired outcome. In some cases, we may determine that you're a better candidate for other types of injectables, such as JUVÉDERM® or BOTOX® Cosmetic. For many of our patients, the best course of action is to "mix and match" these products to address various areas of their faces in a single session. We guide you through your options and help you understand what to expect.

Before & After Photos

What to Expect

Your Restylane treatment is likely to be a quick and straightforward process. If you're a candidate for Restylane, you may undergo your treatment on the same day as your consultation. We begin by cleansing your face to remove makeup, dirt, and oil. Restylane injections are formulated with a built-in anesthetic, but we can also numb your skin to enhance your comfort even further. We make a series of quick injections to the areas of concern.

Immediately after your treatment, we offer you a cold compress to decrease swelling. Most patients return to their usual activities, including work, immediately after their appointments.

Trust Your Face to a Facial Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Edward Gross is board certified in both facial plastic surgery and otolaryngology, which means that he's devoted his entire professional career to the human face. Visit Primera to see how that expertise creates beautiful results every day.

Enjoying Your Results

The results of your Restylane treatment can be immediately appreciated. Although Restylane is typically well tolerated, you may experience redness, swelling, itchiness, tenderness, or bruising at injection sites. These side effects are usually quite mild and short-lived. When you book your appointment, we may advise you to temporarily discontinue the use of certain medications and supplements that can thin your blood.

Your beautiful results can last up to 6 months, which means that most Restylane patients need only 2 treatments per year.
